    Wednesday 5/6/09 New Boston Physical Therapy Opening Night, Cat A and B.

    After getting rained out the night before, it was great to get the 2009 racing season officially underway at NEV & CP. The nights racing was sponsored by New Boston Physical Therapy, we had a total of 21 riders including 2 women Gretta Zygmont and Leah Pappas Barnes who raced in with the Bs. They held there own, Leah was able to just get the better of Gretta through out the night, and actually challenged some of the men almost making the match sprint final in the Miss an Out race, they should have more competion in the coming weeks as more women come to the track.

    The B field which had over a dozen riders was mostly dominated by soon to be A rider Gary Bavolar showing great form lapping the field in the points race to finish off the night. Akira Sato got the best of Gary in the Unknown distance event, and Seth Davis showed off some serious acceleration to take the 1 lap Chariot race (the only race Gary wasn’t in the top of the results).

    The A field was a bit smaller with about 7 riders for most of the night. But it was a competitive bunch; Colin Murphy was able to take most of the night’s early races still riding one of our rental bikes. Charlie Bedard got the best of the group off the line in the 1 lap Chariot race. And Patrick Goguen came out with fresh legs to race the Points Race at the end of the night and was able to take 1st in each of the 4 sprint laps to win in front of Jay Fransis and Charlie Bedard. Mike Mckittrick showed he belonged in the A group, consistently coming in the top of the results, racing up from the B field that he was in last year.
