We had a great time at the Major Taylor tribute. We had a chance to talk with some of the cycling greats, while others had a chance to talk with our own cycling great, Dick Ring. When we told Greg LeMond about our program, he said and I quote, ” I love the track, it is the best place to learn how to handle a bike.” “I rode in the Pursuit in the Junior Worlds, but I really like the Madison, it is a lot of fun”.
I had a chance to catch up with one on my boyhood idols Nelson Vails, who I hadn’t seen since my days at Trexlertown, and who I believe is still one of the best track racers ever. We handed out a lot brochures and spread the word about New England’s premier velodrome.
