4/14/08 - More clean up days scheduled
We’ll be out there Tuesday 4/15 and Wednesday 4/16 from 4pm until dark, and this weekend on Saturday 4/19 & Sunday 4/20 from 9-5. Come one, come all! We appreciate anytime you can spare to help us out. Don’t forget to bring rakes, chainsaws, hand saws, shovels, brooms, wheelbarrows, bolt cutters, snow blowers, pick-up trucks and anything else you can think of that could be of use. And of course, bring your bicycles to get in a few laps in between lugging tires! Every little bit we do makes a BIG difference! Thanks again to all that have come out to help so far.
4/13/08 - Boston Beanpot Classic
Thanks to Keith Cardoza for letting us set up a booth on Sunday for the Tufts Criterium. It was a cold day for riding and for spectators, but we made a lot of new contacts and were able to to let some of the collegiate cyclists know about the ECCC race we’ll be hosting in September this year. Thanks to all of you who stopped by to see us. We’ll look forward to seeing some new faces this season at the track. Don’t forget the benefits of track riding/racing for improving your skills on the road. You’ll improve your handling skills and become better sprinters by training at the track!
04/08/08- Weekend track clean up a huge success!
On Saturday a crew of 15, including: Amy Wallace, Scott Wilson, Greta Zygmont, Lodrina Cherne, Jerry White, Craig Roth, Nixie Bombardier, Seth Davis, Jeff Bramhall, Jeff Askin, Barry Greenberg, Mike and Ryan Powers, Steven Gauthier, Tony Eberhardt, and Laurie Daley were able to remove approximately 2000 tires from turn 2 and turn 4. On Sunday, a group of 13 including Jeff Walsh, Craig Roth, Greta Zygmont, Phil Kenealy, Andy Masia, Natalya Boltukhova, Mike McKittrick, Greg & Susan Bernhardt, Kim Messa, Tony Eberhardt, Laurie Daley, and Garabed Minasianicked battled damp conditions while adding another 1500 tires to the discard pile. Progress was also made on a retaining wall behind the track between turn 3-4. It will become an area for improved spectator viewing. With the help of our T250 Turbo Bobcat donated by our new sponsor, Bobcat of New Hampshire, Scott Wilson, Mike Powers and Tony Eberhardt were able to begin removing dirt and debris from behind the boards and were also able to grade the slope away from the track surface. Once this is completeed, it will allow for the installation of fence pipe to which we will attach the new boards. On of our goals is to provide a pathway around the perimeter of the track so spectators can find a good location from which to cheer for their favorite racer.
There is plenty of work still to be done, so stay connected for more details on the upcoming work parties.
